About Anna and The Real Art Club

A space to create:

The Real Art Club was set up in response to the increasing focus on Literacy and Maths in schools and my belief that all children need the chance to get creative and to express themselves in different ways. I strongly believe that children need the opportunity to develop different talents and abilities and that having creative outlets can be the making of them.

Primary school teaching

As a primary school teacher, I was incredibly lucky to work in a school where they put Art and creativity centre stage. An outstanding school and a wonderful place to work. This experience gave me the determination to help other children to get creative whilst also to build their confidence, perseverance and and enjoyment of learning.

After running after-school clubs in school and putting on holiday workshops in a gazebo in my garden, I took the plunge and built a studio: the new home to The Real Art Club.

Children’s Courses

My courses give children the chance to learn new skills and to produce artwork that they will be very proud of. The different projects are based around an artist or book (and sometimes both) so that the children gain knowledge of Art History along with new skills and techniques.

Throughout the courses, I try to develop the children’s growth mindset so that they know that if they persevere and keep trying, even when a task is challenging, they can come away with great results. These skills are really transferable and so important throughout life.

Adult Classes and Celebrations

Having the chance to get creative and to use our brains in different ways is so important in adult life. As well as doing evening classes, which you can book as individuals, I can also put on tailor-made lessons around your interests: be it making something edible or basing the learning around a particular theme. I love to work with you to create your perfect lessons and learning.
